Karen Lavender’s film career started in South Africa when she directed a documentary about the famous controversial choreographer Robin Orlin. She followed that with work in television post production, most notably working on Shaka Zulu – one of the largest international productions ever filmed in South Africa.
Karen has served as an in-house commercial producer/production supervisor for Turbine Films and Producer at LiveTribe as well as freelance producing for several other production companies. She has produced numerous award-winning independent films, TV commercials and interactive/transmedia projects working with executive producers Deepak Nayar (Bend It Like Beckham), Conrad Riggs (Survivor, Apprentice) and Robert Lawrence (Clueless). Clients include the ESPN, NBC, Discovery, BET, and GAC networks, and brands such as Target, PepsiCo/Mountain Dew, Skullcandy, Vans, DC Shoes, Cisco, Axe, Scion and the U.S. Military.
